According to AppleInsider, Steve Jobs and Co. are releasing the first colorific iPods with their Shuffle line. Alongside the orange one above there will be vibrant pink, blue and green ones as well. The Shuffle is around HK$650 for the 1GB version and is available now in Hong Kong here. Hong Kong Oscars in March?

Andy Lau helps to get the Gov to fund Asian Academy Awards

oscar.jpg

This is a long time coming, so we’ll see in March if we can really launch an Asian Academy Awards in Hong Kong.

Thanks to Andy Lau Tak-Wah, who convinced the HK Gov to help fund The Asian Film Awards to help promote the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the local film industry and Hong Kong with HK$5 million which should match what the HKIFF brings in. Kind of ironic that Andy Lau helped get cash to fund an event where he would win most of the awards! I kid, I kid…

Check out the site here - the usual suspects are in line for the nominations across the region: Curse of the Golden Flower and Exiled are the HK entries. The Host from Korea is there, so why no Death Note from Japan?

Oh and look who’s a nominee for Best Actor - why it’s Andy Lau Tak-Wah for A Battle of Wits.

Banned sexy indie wants to sex you up

shortbus.jpg

Sometimes I am amazed at what movies make it into Hong Kong and which ones don’t. I need to investigate the movie choosing criteria in this town.

Take Shortbus, this sexy indie movie that is getting alot of press because some of the non-actors are actually having real sex in front of the camera is going to have its Gala Opening on Feb. 8-10 at the HK Arts Centere’s Agnes b. Cinema! Apparently some critics think its like a porno, but the relationship stories makes it a “real movie”

Virgin Spreads into Macau

Sir Richard is coming with US$3 billion in his pocket

virgin.jpg

I’m actually a bit surprised that Richard Branson DIDN’T come to Macau earlier. Reports today signal that Virgin Group along with Australia’s Tabcorp are planning to build and operate a US$3 billion casino resort in Macau. Bottom-line if this happens, it will be the most expensive single-location in Macau even beating the US$2.3 billion 2,000-room Venetian from Sheldon Adelson. CONTINUE
