The add-on fuels the next gen DVD debate.

Can’t decide between Blu-Ray and HD DVD? Well here’s more indecision for you. The HD DVD Group announced 100,000 players sold in the US and Microsoft is saying they have sold 155,000 HD DVD add-ons to the Xbox 360.
Microsoft Hong Kong is in the game as well by offering a free Joey Yung Safari Music Concert HD DVD with every drive purchase in Hong Kong until June 30 (or while stocks last)
But with the Playstation 3’s built in Blu-Ray drive, it’s not a surprise that Blu-Ray is leading sales in the war with movies like Casino Royale and The Departed.
One of the reasons cited again for HD DVD’s lag in sales is due to the format’s lack of exclusive, blockbuster titles thus far. The HD DVD-only Children of Men released late March is expected to help bolster its format’s numbers, though the movie was released with several compatibility issues.

The big green ogre finally shows up this Thursday.

Shrek the Third has been dubbed into Cantonese and is ready to make his third visit to Hong Kong this Thursday, June 28. Are we excited? Not really. It got a critical thumping in the US, and basically what we have seen so far this summer is that the third time is definitely not the charm for movies.
Of note though is that Hong Kong-born Raman Hui (è¨±èª æ¯…) who works at Dreamworks is co-director of this film, so support the homegrown talent on what I’m sure will at least be worth the admission price.

No information, just a tease of a very sexy looking player.

iRiver just dropped these new images on their Korean site and around the web of their new P10 portable media player which looks to be smaller and lightweight than the current models out there.
We are betting by this Christmas there will be at least half a dozen awesome PMP’s to choose from, so if you haven’t dipped into getting one of these gadgets yet you could hold out for more choice but this one does look to be a Top 3 contender.

Here is our update from Mong Kok on Saturday.

As we posted on Friday, FIFA World Cup champ Luca Toni, came to Hong Kong on Saturday to open the first Lotto concept shop in Hong Kong. As you can see from the photos below it was an exciting and crazy time in Mong Kok - well more so than usual!
With its growing passion for sports, especially football, Asia is a key market for Lotto, and it intends to expand its presence in the region further during the coming years. To achieve this goal, the company recently established a joint-venture company to oversee the distribution of its products in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China through offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing. In addition, it has established a wholly owned subsidiary in Hong Kong to oversee the sourcing, production, planning and R&D of its apparel and accessories collections.
Located at Shop No. 60-64, G/F, Soy Street, Mongkok, the Lotto football concept shop will not only showcase Lotto’s soccer performance products, especially its acclaimed ZHERO GRAVITY, ZHERO EVOLUTION and ZHERO LEGGENDA football boots, all of which have been inspired by the company’s dedication to the pursuit of lightness, speed and maximum precision in football shooting, but also its lifestyle collection with shoes, apparel and accessories.

Splattering its way to Hong Kong as 2 separate movies.

It may have bombed in the US as one 3+ hour, B-movie, exploitation love-fest but Grindhouse is finally coming to Hong Kong in July but instead of 1 long movie it will be split into 2:Â Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror on July 5 and Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof on July 19.
So what WAS the best 2-for-1 deal in movies has now become 2 movies with 2 admission prices. If you are a fan of these directors, you are already sold - if you don’t know then maybe you better check out the trailers here. No matter what, it’ll be an exciting ride at the movie house.
