‘Ermenegildo’ is Italian for ‘High-Rolling Santa.’
Ermenegildo Zegna has some new Xmas gift ideas for you if you are stuck on a choice for a super-slick men gear that isn’t electronic, like the slick stripe tie above.
Exquisite alligator and leather wallets from the ‘Heritage’ and ‘Trofeo’ collections, with a discreet band of polished silver or gold engraved emblems, are simple and stylish gifts for the discerning man at Christmas.
The actor, rapper and Man in Black himself, Will Smith is coming to Hong Kong next Friday, December 7 at the piazza in Times Square from 7-8pm for the premiere of his new movie I Am Legend - the story about the last man on earth after a horrifying threat kills everyone, and then he finds he’s not as alone as he thought. Yes, it’s an action movie.
Warner Bros. Hong Kong is bringing The Fresh Prince into town just as they did with Keanu Reeves a few years ago to promote Constantine (and just to let you know this stuff does work, Constantine opened at #1 and stayed there for 2 weeks even with lukewarm reviews, but we liked it anyways.)
So make sure to leave the office early if you want to see Will Smith because as we all know Times Square is already a madhouse at 6pm on a Friday, you throw in one of The Men in Black and there will be mass chaos.
The I Am Legend trailer below:
And as an added bonus, the trailer to the original movie its based on The Omega Man (which in turn was based on the original book I Am Legend) but the Charlton Heston movie was always good fun in a 1970’s sci-fi kind of way:
We’ve assembled more Will Smith videos that you won’t want to miss.
Benefits for the new models? Basically you get the Q9 Chinese stroke input, real time HK/China stock quotes and Forex via JAVA and (hopefully this comes with all Blackberry’s) easy 1-touch syncing, and of course the very clear and powerful yet more expensive service that 1010 offers.
Must say the Curve does look pretty cool, but no 3G and no WiFi? But it does have GPS and a trackball…but I guess we will have to wait for the rumored 8320 to get the missing pieces.
Last weekend Carolina Herrera launched their new fragrance Sexy 212 at LCX with local celebs Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Mandy Cho (曹æ•莉) and Irene Wang (汪圓圓).
212 sexy is for the self-possessed women in whom serenity and sensuality combine with natural grace and ease, she draws people to her effortlessly, with elegant simplicity. For her, a fragrance is less a means to an end than joyful recognition of self-belief. 212 sexy is for any woman who feels vibrant, alive, happy in herself.
And 212 SEXY MEN is masculine, tactile and full of magnetism. Opening and closing the bottle transmits a sensation of solidity, strength and quality that complements the sensual characteristics of the aubergine and deep purple tones.
And here is the TV commercial, which yes, is weird that we’re posting, but you don’t get to see these on TV in Hong Kong and they look so nice:
Here are two photos of Mandy Cho (曹æ•莉) and Irene Wang (汪圓圓) at the LCX launch:
Andrew Lau teams up with Richard Gere and…Avril Lavigne?!
It’s great that any Hollywood movie that features a Hong Kong star or director gets to open in Hong Kong first. Andrew Lau’s (劉å‰å¼·) first Hollywood movie and starring Richard Gere and Claire Danes (and another turn at acting for singer Avril Lavigne) does not take place in China or Hong Kong and is not a remake:
While training his young female replacement, a hyper-vigilant employee of the department of public safety must track down a missing girl whom he is convinced is connected to a paroled sex offender he’s investigating. Working against the clock they unravel the twisted details to track the potential killer.
It’s so fresh and new there aren’t any reviews for it yet online and we have yet to see it either. That may or may not be a bad thing but the trailer looks good and its the only new English-language movie opening today at Pacific Place AMC, Festival Walk and MCL JP Cinema. Have a look at the Japanese trailer below:

Super-light, cheap & powerful Asus is on everyone’s hitlist.
This one seems like a no-brainer: who wants a super-light, super-cheap notebook PC? Apparently everyone, especially this Christmas. The Asus Eee is causing a stir all over the world. Its just a super small super light weight but fairly powerful laptop PC. To the tech-savvy it seemed to be a bit of a lightweight joke, but it seems that its exactly what the masses want:
So overwhelming is the Eee PC´s popularity in America that all the units were snapped up – creating a lack of stock; and stores were inundated with orders for the Christmas season as soon as it was put on the shelves. Long queues were noted on launch day as people flocked to put their hands on the popular notebook. In the two weeks since it’s launch in the US, the Eee PC has already sold ten thousand sets.
Did we mention that the price for this decent mobile PC is only HK$2980? That’s cheaper than most smartphones and way cheaper than the cheapest full-size laptop from Dell. Its sold out around Hong Kong too, and prices are moving up from its suggested retail price until stock becomes more readily available.
Considering that some people cannot type on a Blackberry because of the small keys or open attachments on iPhone’s this little device seems to be a good idea to go with your mobile phone, and we’re sure we’ll be seeing more of these little mini, cheap but powerful PC’s out on the market in 2008.
New gift pack teaches you to share your booze recipes.
Baileys is promoting themselves in Hong Kong with this neat promotion set. You get a bottle of Bailey’s, 2 coffee cups (so people don’t know you are getting drunk in the office) and a pen that can write on the mugs. Or you can just follow this easy recipe:
A fantastic way to kick off a party and impress your friends, this is a drink that oozes cool sophistication. All that’s needed is a cocktail shaker and a martini glass. Fill the shaker with lots of ice and add 50ml of Baileys per person. Shake, shake and keep on shaking. Then strain into the martini glass and garnish with a flurry of chocolate or cocoa powder for the ultimate hip-chic cocktail that will make you the talk of the town.
While Baileys is promoting a sharing feeling, we can already see the great fun something like this would be as a gift around the office. Look for it at supermarkets, (bring your own bag to Park N Shop) department stores and other places you buy alcohol for HK$209.
