Prada Gets Illustrated

New prints by illustrator James Jean.

prada.jpg

You’ve no doubt by now seen Prada’s new ad campaign all over Hong Kong. Prada has hired Los Angeles-based Asian-American artist James Jean to illustrate their new prints that can be seen on handbags and dresses. What is interesting is that, not only has comic book characters have taken over the movies they are now taking over high fashion, as Jean is a notable comic book artist and his work has graced several graphic novels and comic books over the last few years. They evoke a dream-like quality and he is one of the most sought after artists with his original art going for high 6-figures on Ebay.

This is not new ground for Prada as last year they went anime as well.
Check out the full Prada lookbook and ad campaign at their site and see more of James Jean’s comic book artwork here.

Prada is available in Hong Kong at their outlets at Alexandra House, IFC, Pacific Place, Sogo, Peninsula Hotel and the Canton Road shop. An animation featuring the new print illustrations is below:

3G iPhone Months Away from Hong Kong?

The iPhone rumours are reaching a fevered pitch!

3giphone.jpg

We’ve actually been getting emails from readers asking us how to buy iPhones in Hong Kong since it launched. And to them we say “Hold on! New version is coming!”

We’ve been tracking the 3G iPhone rumours through different web sources and this one is yet another, but it sounds very promising, considering the source:

Apple may have ordered a second round of 10 million iPhones based on the 3G network, according to Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney. Mr. Dulaney, who follows the iPhone for the research firm, based that on rumors he’s become aware of in Asia.

In a phone interview, Mr. Dulaney told the iPod Observer that he believes Apple has ordered a second round, amounting to 10 million more units, based on what he’s heard in Asian circles. This is in addition to the ten million first generation iPhones that Apple has said it will sell by the end of 2008.

Mr. Dulaney also speculated that that the so-called 3G iPhone will use an Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display in the new iPhone. That would lead to a thinner phone and lower power consumption.

It was also surmised by Mr. Dulaney that Apple didn’t do as well as it expected in Europe with the 2.7G/EDGE network phone, hence the big movement to the 3G network iPhone.

And the big iPhone news today is that New York is sold out of iPhones, that is helping swell up the new 3G iPhone rumors.

Will Hong Kong finally see an official launch in June or July 2008? And what’s this rumor from Kevin Rose, about the new 3G iPhone having a video-chat function?

The next big Apple event will be the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9th, so we expect the announcement to happen then and the product to be made available shortly after.

Uniqlo has unleashed its amazing army of T-shirts for Spring 2008. So many cool and hip designs to choose from that its no wonder that Uniqlo is really taking a bit out of the Hong Kong created casual wear shops. Not that we see a direct comparison, but Bossini’s idea of cool is Super Mario Bros. T-shirts compared to Uniqlo’s anime and manga, Keith Haring and Basquiat designs for only HK$99 for adults and HK$79 for kids, and some come in those cool plastic cylinder containers.

Hop over to Uniqlo now at one of their 7 Hong Kong stores: Lee Garden Causeway Bay, Cityplaza Tai Koo Shing, Miramar, Festival Walk, Telford Plaza, East Point City and New Town Plaza.
