Is it an alien or is it just the Chanel Mobile Gallery?
If you’ve been past the Star Ferry area in Central, then you’ve most likely seen an alien spacecraft atop of it. Actually its the Chanel Mobile Art Gallery and it’s free but its also quite a unique piece of art in itself.
Chanel commissioned around 20 artists, including Yoko Ono and the Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, to produce works for the show loosely based on its famous bag and you have till April 5th to see it before it moves to Tokyo.
The big news is that Karl Lagerfeld himself will be in Hong Kong for the grand opening party next Wednesday with the architect Zaha Hadid and potentially a few of the artists and maybe even 1 or 2 world-class celebrities too, but those aren’t confirmed yet.

Following up with Monday’s posting, Coach sent us some photos of their new Spring 2008 collection that we want to share with you. As you can see below, all news colors and styles detail this collection:
Ergo Collection
New to the Ergo collection are Coach’s Ergo Pleated Hobo and Ergo Pleated Tote. Both styles offer delicately pleated leather and come in a rich palette of Natural, White, Burnt Orange and Black.
An inner frame purse adds feminine detail to Coach’s Ergo Leather Pleated Satchel, which is Reed Krakoff’s favorite item in the Spring Summer Collection.
Coach’s Ergo Clear XL Tote is an oversized clear tote trimmed in rich gold leather and belted with our classic brass dogleash closure.
Bleecker Collection
The line features burnished accessories with a distinctly vintage feel. Coach’s limited edition Bleecker Straw Millie XL Hobo features Coach’s iconic dogleash closure and is Krakoff’s favorite bag from the Spring Collection.
Forget the Batmen and Iron Men coming this Summer, there’s only one superhero team on Butterboom readers minds and that’s the Sex and the City 4-some!
And here is the latest and final trailer for the movie that is coming to theaters on May 30 and looks to be about the wedding of Carrie and Mr. Big. There are a few more surprises for each of the girls, so if you want to be surprised come May 30 you may not want to watch this, but for the rest of you click here to watch the trailer in high-def!
Official Hong Kong release date for Sex and the City movie is up in the air but hopefully it’ll slot in around the same time as the US release.
Coach has announced that 25-year old actress Kate Bosworth (she played Lois Lane in Superman Returns and a surfer in Blue Crush) will appear in its Spring campaign throughout Asia starting this month.
If you’ve been in Central lately, you know that Coach is building a 9,500 square foot, 2-level flagship mega-store at the gates of Lan Kwai Fong on D’Aguilar and Queen’s Road Central, and will be the 8th store in Hong Kong, so we’re sure you will be seeing Kate’s face all over Hong Kong soon.
Sanrio, the house of Hello Kitty, has inked a co-branding partnership with Italian design house tokidoki to create a line of products (from accessories to apparel) based on the world-famous feline for the US market.
The tokidoki for Hello Kitty limited-edition collection will feature product ranging from vinyl dolls and jewellery to apparel, including t-shirts, tanks, hoodies, fleece tops, fleece shorts and dresses.
Signature tokidoki style is evident on super cute designs created by the company’s artist-in-residence Simone Legno that feature foil, flocking and other unique treatments.
The collection is currently at retailers in Japan and will make its US debut in Metro Park and Macy’s department stores in April 2008. Prices range from US$40 (tank tops) to US$92 (hoodies).
