Our question is: why do technology companies make better phone’s than the actual companies that make phones as their core business? As Google-hoics ourselves, this mobile integration of Google services into our daily life might be more appropriate than an iPhone, but the longer they wait to release this, the harder it will be to beat Apple at its on touchscreen game.
Overall, Android has an iPhone-like look and feel. The home screen has a program launcher that looks remarkably similar to Apple’s. But there are a few things that set it apart. First, the status bar that shows up at the top of every page is far more interactive. You can click and drag any item on the status bar from any program to pull down a menu that will show you missed calls, unread emails, or other information.
On the day of the new Coach flagship store opening in Hong Kong, news has come in that Coach is buying out the retail business from current Hong Kong licensee/distributor ImagineX for Hong Kong, Macau and China.
“Over the next 5 years, we expect to open over 50 new locations, aggressively growing our sales and market share in this rapidly expanding region. Our market research indicates that by 2013 the China, Hong Kong and Macau premium handbag and accessories market will likely exceed $2.5 billion, more than double its current size of $1.2 billion. Our goal is to be one of the top three imported handbag and accessory brands, with sales of over $250 million and a market share of at least 10% by fiscal 2013, up from only about $30 million and 3% today.
Coach will acquire the assets, including fixtures and inventory, of its current stores in the region in stages over the next year. This acquisition is in line with the company’s objective to take control of brand building and distribution at this critical juncture and will lay the foundation for a substantial contribution of these businesses in the future.
There are currently 24 Coach domestic retail locations in these three geographies, including our new Queen’s Road Central flagship and seven other stores in Hong Kong, one in Macau and 15 in mainland China. In addition, there are five travel retail locations in the region, which will continue to be managed by third-party operators and are not part of this agreement.
Read the rest of the details here. ImagineX also manages retail outlets for BCBG, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana, Diesel, DKNY, Marc Jacobs, Tumi, Ferragamo.

Her silver dress was unique, beautiful, fashion forward, never boring, flattering and glamorous — everything you’d expect from what’s probably one of the biggest red carpet moments in Sarah Jessica’s red carpet career.
More photos of the girls here. Hong Kong Sex and the City fans need to wait one more week as it opens here on June 5th.
Here is an early video review from Variety - but really, who cares what anyone says, right? We hear there are women lining up outside theatre’s in the US to see it as if they were Star Wars nerds! (Interesting note: The running time of the movie is almost 2 and a half hours, I guess its to hold you over if they ever make a second one.)
This is a big week for store launches in Hong Kong, as we head into the Summer and tourist season. Diesel has been hyping their new store on billboards in Hong Kong all month long and today they launch their new store in Central at 20 Queen’s Road. Check it out with map directions below:
15 restaurants serve wine and canapes on June 7th.
Although it may sound like a police sobriety test, there is a good reason to get out onto Wyndham Street 雲咸街; next Saturday, June 7th for the first WineWalk event.
One2Free and Time Out Hong Kong is letting you try a bunch of different wine and canapes at 15 Wyndham Street restaurants for HK$280 (with a 10% discount to all tourists) from 3pm-6pm. Participating restaurants includes Frog Faced Fish, Wagyu, FINDS, Gnocchia, Tivo, Pickled Pelican and many more. A special Time Out commemorative wine glass will be given to all guests.
All we need is for more drunk people to be wandering around Wyndham earlier on a Saturday than normal, but hey its for a good cause as all profits from the event go to the Room to Read charity.
So if you are looking to catch an afternoon matinee of the Sex and the City movie this might be the chi-chi thing to hit up afterwards and test out some wines, have some canapes and support a good cause. Carrie Bradshaw would be proud.
