Butterboom’s celebrity of the week is Zhou Xun.

Zhou Xun is one of the four major Chinese actresses to achieve international acclaim, along with Zhang Ziyi, Xu Jinglei and Zhao Wei.
She became known from her role in Lou Ye’s Suzhou River in 2000 which won her the Best Actress Award from the 15th Paris Film Festival. She has received raved reviews for her performances in Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress which came out in 2002. Fresh from winning her latest film accolade from the Asian Film Award for Best Actress 2009 in The Equation of Love and Death, this accomplished actresses has turned up on our style radar.

Cartier showcases its latest Trinity collection.

The reinvention of a classic- that is what’s happened to the Cartier Trinity collection for the year 2009. Cartier has taken the classic Trinity designs and have added embellishments and complexities to suit the modern woman.
The Trinity collection’s roots go back to the year 1920, when a ring with 3 intertwined bands of pink, yellow and white gold was released by Cartier. It instantly became famous and was immediately identified as one of the brand’s iconic designs. For this year, Cartier has reinterpreted the Trinity with details to give it an updated look extending the range to bracelets and necklaces. A fresh take on the design involved a 6-band style, lending a more modern and extravagant aesthetic to the already sophisticated line.

Anya Hindmarch was in town to meet and greet press and customers last week. There was little tea session and late night shopping spree that was organized by her new retail partners, the Bluebell Group.
Since there were quite a few different looks from the Spring/Summer 09 collection, we’ll like to highlight our favourites.

Help put shoes on barefooted children in Africa, Central America and Northern India.

TOMS creator Blake Mycosie strikes a cord with Hollywood A-lists with his shoes for a cause. Blake, a former banker while on a trip to Argentina, was struck by the poor children walking shoeless for miles and miles barefooted to get water or go to school which caused them to suffer from a foot disease called Podoconiosis. It is a disease that causes extreme swelling, ulcers and deformity of the foot.
