Lane Crawford and HK PolyU award 3 talented designers.

As expected, the collaborated between Lane Crawford and Hong Kong Polytechnic University for “Designers of Tomorrow” has uncovered some amazing talent. Three designers were selected and awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for the Most Promising Young Talent Award.
Third prize went to Cheung Man Yee, Hyphen. Her collection Eternal Organic drew inspiration from the curves of a mango. Minimal use of fabric, and structural layering resulted in a peaceful aesthetic which very much echoed organic fashion (above).

Tam Kim Kui bagged the second prize with his Arternative Fashion. Dresses made out of plastic bags and liquid crystals make for an unusual statement, staying true to the designer’s belief that fashion should not be bound by a single style rule.

First place went to Tang Mei Yan’s Chartaceous Meteoroid collection. Inspired by the traditional lantern, this collection took on an ethereal feel. To showcase the beauty of Chinese tradition, the designer created a beautiful dress that seemed to be made out of tiny lanterns.
Butterboom congratulates these talented winners.

A bunny eared Madonna?

Madonna’s bunny ear images from Louis Vuitton’s fall campaign is all over the internet. We’re not sure what the bunny ears are in reference to or Madonna’s expression, but we love the dress!
We wonder if any of Hong Kong’s celeb will be donning the headpiece anytime soon. Photographed by Steven Meisel, this is one of the seven images of Madonna in Louis Vuitton’s fall collection.
