Celebrities dress to impress at the Toronto Film Fest.
Count on our favorite stars to come dressed to the nines at yet another red-carpet event, The Toronto International Film Festival. Held every September, this 10-day film fest features anything from 300 of the best international films of the year. Public screenings are held in downtown Toronto, so both the masses and industry insiders can decide which films are worthy of praise and recognition.
The best outfit of the festival had to go to Taiwanese actress and model Terri Kwan, best known for her appearance in Turn Left, Turn Right. She attended the festival to represent the movie Prince of Tears. She looks outstanding in a red Spanish-inspired number, with minimal make-up, and no accessories at all!
Hong Kong gets a theatrical release for the new Matt Damon movie.
Matt Damon hangs up his Jason Bourne outfit for the role as a “whistle blower” in the new film by Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13 director Steven Soderberg: The Informant!
What was Mark Whitacre thinking? A rising star at agri-industry giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Whitacre (Matt Damon) suddenly turns whistleblower. Even as he exposes his company’s multi-national price-fixing conspiracy to the FBI, Whitacre envisions himself being hailed as a hero of the common man and handed a promotion. But before all that can happen, the FBI needs evidence, so Whitacre eagerly agrees to wear a wire and carry a hidden tape recorder in his briefcase, imagining himself as a kind of de facto secret agent.
Unfortunately for the FBI, their lead witness hasn’t been quite so forthcoming about helping himself to the corporate coffers. Whitacre’s ever-changing account frustrates the agents (Scott Bakula and Joel McHale) and threatens the case against ADM as it becomes almost impossible to decipher what is real and what is the product of Whitacre’s active imagination.
Definitely not the neck-breaking action you might be used to seeing from Damon, but its scoring a very high 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and is being hinted at as an Oscar nomination for Damon’s performance. Warner Bros. brings it to Hong Kong cinemas on October 22nd so keep your eyes open for it then. Trailer below:
