Thakoon is Tasaki’s New Creative Director

Thai-born, American-raised designer Thakoon Panichgul has come a long way. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Thakoon designed his first collection in 2004 and gain prominence when he became a runner-up for the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund competition in 2006 and was nominated Best Emerging Womenswear Designer. Besides his own collection, he has produce a limited edition collection for The Gap and Target and collaborated with Nine West on an accessories collection. He is currently head designer for Hogan. With a clientele like Michelle Obama, Natalie Portman, Demi Moore, America Ferrera, Sarah Jessica Parker, Thakoon has clearly arrived.

In his next coup d’etat, Thakoon takes on the world of jewellery, as Tasaki’s new creative director. Famed for its outstanding pearls, Tasaki is also a DeBeers site holder and has been one of Japan’s leading jewellery companies for over 55 years. With Thakoon at its helm, the company hopes to take on a fresh new approach to its designs and, though Thakoon has never worked with jewellery before, his unique aesthetic should ensure this will be a match made in design heaven!
