H&M Wants a Piece of Tom Ford

Another possible collaboration for the Swedish powerhouse.

Hot on the heels of the current H&M and Versace collection, the next rumoured designer to collaborate with the Swedish chain is fashion king Tom Ford. Margareta van den Bosch, creative director for H&M, commented that, “I can say I wouldn’t mind,” and who would? As former CD of Gucci, YSL and director of the Oscar-nominated film A Single Man, Tom Ford has made his own mark with his own extremely covetable line.

Although no official contact has been made between H&M and Tom Ford, Margareta van den Bosch mentioned to Bloomberg BusinessWeek that Ford is “a very interesting name” and we’re guessing that if a collaboration was to go through, it would be H&M’s ninth designer collection and an inevitable success.

The stream of affordable designer ranges began with Karl Lagerfeld’s capsule collection, which sparked off a series of successful collections with names like Stella McCartney and Lanvin. With all of their designer collections drawing huge crowds even before the launch, a partnership with Tom Ford would only follow suit. So, let’s hope that rumour precedes fact because we could all do with some Tom Ford in our closets!
