Another stellar collection.

YSL butterboom 1 Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2012

With tradition and heritage rooted in every collection, Stefano Pilati’s Spring 2012 collection for YSL looks to crystalline visions for inspiration. Amidst notions of a self-conscious bourgeoisie and an interest in mid-twentieth century couture, the collection hints at a murmuring Belle du Jour undertone – think the bad girl with some chronic class.

While the pieces have a certain lightness to them, from the nile green blouses and sepia greys to the chiffon printed dresses, Pilati still manages to pump up the volume. Architectural shoulders and structured silhouettes are realized in trapeze coats and godet skirts, shapes that are so classically French.

Gold-capped shoes will for sure be the focus of every girl’s spring wish-list, as are YSL accessories every season. It’s the best consolation when the clothes aren’t within reach.
