Shanghainese and Proud at the New Shanghai Tang: “WTS” with Elle Lee
Former model/fashion blogger Elle Lee tells us: “What to shop!”
As a proud Shanghainese, I am not so proud of the fact that I never stepped into Shanghai Tang!
Maybe it’s my stubborn Shanghai genes that kept saying that being a true Shanghainese, I don’t need to shop at Shanghai Tang to be a stylish Shanghai lady. But after Butterboom.com‘s great photo gallery of the new flagship store that opened on Duddell Street, I decided to have a look so I had decided it was time for me to do the right thing – and I found a lot of great looks to share with you in this week’s post!
Cotton Sleeveless Top with Lace Details HK$1880
“Hexagon Lace” Silk Cotton Skirt HK$1880
Pleated Silk Clutch with Jade Details HK$1880
Shanghai Tang’s new flagship store on Duddell Street, also known as Shanghai Tang Mansion is the largest in the world. Stepping into this art deco – west meets east, modern meets history three-storey retail space of 15,000 square feet building takes me back to one of those old mansions situated in the French concession of Shanghai.
I actually felt a bit back at home, and could not be more than happy to enjoy the rare (in Hong Kong) big and spacious shopping experience Shanghai Tang provided.
Silk Cashmere Cardigan with Printed Silk Panel HK$2680
“Phoenix Feather” Silk Jacquard Shorts HK$2280
Knot Silk Braid Clutch with Tassel HK$2280
“Hexagon” Laser Cut Belt HK$1780
All the unique and Shanghai Tang inspired displays in the store give that extra authenticity to the mansion. I wouldn’t mind living there for sure!
I am not particularly interested in the brand’s famous modern Qipao. I was more on the lookout for something for practical but still embedded in the essence of Shanghai and China elegance. It’s not difficult to find looks from your daily one to cocktail one in this mansion. All you have to do is keep your eyes peeled and not miss a thing.
Something else to get you excited is its soon to be open fine dining floor. Find your perfect outfit and relax after all that shopping in the restaurant? Sounds like my new Saturday routine.
All the looks in these photos are available now at the Shanghai Tang Mansion.
