Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusuma Pop-up Store at Pacific Place

A pop-up store featuring Kusuma’s “Biomorphic Nerves” polka dot artwork.

 Louis Vuitton has gone polka dot mania with their latest artist collaboration with Yayoi Kusuma. Yayoi Kusama is Japanese born artist who stated painting in the 1950′s. She’s made a name with her exhibitions with prominent avant-garde artist like Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg and her installations at the Venice Biennale, MOMA in New York.

From 13 July – 8 September 2012, you can check out her exhibition and original design and collaborative pieces with Louis Vuitton at a pop-up store featuring her installation of ” Biomorphic Nerves” a series of polka dot sculptures that is her most iconic work.  The pop-up stores are a world wide initiatives that covers major cities: New York, Singapore, Tokyo, Paris and London.

The collaborative pieces with Louis Vuitton includes an iphone app, (featured in Butterboom), two publications – a Monography and a Portfolio and a series of accessories and clothes featuring her signature polka dots. Louis Vuitton windows also feature Kusuma’s psychedelic design and brings a lot of fun to the store.

We certainly enjoyed the exhibition and felt like we had entered a mease effect with all the dots set against bright colours. Pop in when you are in Pacific Place, pop-up store is located near the taxi stand on Level 4, next to HSBC bank.
