Chanel were the first luxury brand to introduce shoulder straps to their handbags when, back in the 1920s, Coco Chanel grew tired of always having to carry her handbag. The quilted leather handbag and its leather-threaded chain straps, known as the 2.55 and now synonymous with Chanel, was first introduced in 1955 and it’s played a role on the style stage ever since.
This gorgeous variation on the original still features many key elements of the 2.55, but has a more contemporary feel. The rich blue leather, quilted to reinforce the design and finish, is balanced with the chain straps, not leather-threaded this time, but with leather inserts for comfort. The lining is the signature burgundy colour and there is, or course, the double C clasp. Great with any outfit, this bag might just be the ultimate accessory.
