Hulu 10’s Tranquil Concept Store in Glenealy Street
Hulu 10 is a haven of tranquillity in the otherwise hustling and bustling Mid-Levels. The idea behind the store and the products it offers, which include womenswear, childrenswear, gifts and books, is to bring an awareness of traditional Chinese culture to us urban city folk.
The word ‘Hulu’ is Putonghua for ‘bottle gourd’ and connotes freedom of thought according to ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuang Zi. The ’10′ comes from the store’s location – 10 Glenealy Street.
The team behind the store are all Hong Kong locals passionate about preserving Chinese textile culture through the creation of a contemporary but stress-free environment. The store itself is clean, bright and airy with select antique furnishings and objects carefully placed to uphold the overall aesthetic.
A welcome break from the sometimes frantic pace of Hong Kong, Hulu 10 is a sanctuary of modern and classic Chinese design.
