Today is the big day: Hutchison 3 rolls out the iPhone across Hong Kong, and once you transfer all your contacts to the iPhone, and play around with some of the 3G features, all you fashionitas will want to see how this new technology can make your even more stylish.
Apple has a series of free videos - about everything from Gucci to Vogue to bikinis - available on their website you can easily download to your new iPhone by 3G, Wi-Fi or by just syncing with your computer with iTunes. One of our favorite magazines has a great vidcast available for download here. The Style vidcast features 3-minute videos on runways, fashion parties and more. Right now you can download a bunch of videos featuring Fall 2008 runways from all the big fashion brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Givenchy, Dior, Versace and so much more from Paris and Milan. These may have been released earlier this year but this a good start to add to your vidcast collection. You can subscribe to this feed and it will automatically update you with the newest episodes when you sync your iPhone with iTunes.

New spy comedy opens in Hong Kong on August 7.
Get Smart, the new Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway movie, finally makes it to Hong Kong on August 8th.
Some of you may remember the original TV series with Don Adams/Agent 86 and Barbara Feldon/Agent 99 that poked fun at the super-spy genre of the 1960’s. Definitely one of our favorite shows when we were kids - hey he had a mobile phone in his shoe - is now back starring the ‘40-Year Old Virgin’ and boss of ‘The Office’ in the role as Maxwell Smart and of course you all know the lovely Ms. Hathaway from ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and as the face of Lancome.

Ready or not, like it or not, here it comes.
Time sure flies by, it seemed like only last week the Torch Relay was happening, and now the official countdown clock tells us the Beijing 2008 Olympics is only 30 days away.
Butterboom has questions: Will the streets be rife with tourists? How come we haven’t seen any crazy Olympics stuff in the city and only at the Hong Kong Airport? Will there be more security in public spaces? Will tourists be ripped off on their shopping? We’ll be following how this event affects the Hong Kong shopping scene as we head towards what will probably be a more crazy time than the 1997 handover for the people of our fair city!

Sting returns for a classical concert at the Jockey Club.
After visiting Macau last December with The Police, Sting returns this December to Hong Kong for a very special show at the Jockey Club Auditorium that seats only 1,000.
This tour is in support of the critically-acclaimed album, Songs from the Labyrinth – a personal tribute to late 16th-century Elizabethan composer, John Dowland - Sting will embark on a tour of Australia and Asia, joined by esteemed lutenist, Edin Karamazov.

19,000 people showed up for the 4-day Art HK 08 exhibit that we featured a couple of weeks back.
The choice of Hong Kong as the venue for the new art fair was no accident. The city is the world’s third-largest art market in terms of auction sales, after New York and London. “Hong Kong is a perfect place to host an event such as this,” said Fair Director Magnus Renfrew. He said the city’s infrastructure and its proximity to Taiwan and the Chinese mainland, home to some of the region’s biggest collectors of contemporary art, make it Asia’s ideal arts hub. Aside from its international reputation as an established business centre, Hong Kong enjoys another trump card over Shanghai and other major Asian cultural cities: it has no tax on the import or export of art, unlike the Chinese mainland, which imposes a punitive 34 per cent tax on artwork.
Art HK 08 enlisted 102 contemporary and modern art galleries, showcasing the work of 850 artists from more than 20 countries. Art by Warhol, Picasso and Francis Bacon, as well as such established mainland artists as Zhang Xiaogang and Feng Zhengjie, were featured alongside the work of emerging artists. More than US$65 million worth of art was on display, including Bacon’s Man at a Washbasin, priced at about US$35 million, and Warhol’s Avanti Cars, valued at US$3.7 million. Four galleries, including Hong Kong’s Grotto Fine Art, reported selling out their displays.
Interesting to know that Hong Kong is the 3rd biggest city in the world for art buyers behind New York and London and the organizers have already tapped May 13-17, 2009 for the next one.
