Catch LV’s art exhibit in Hong Kong from May 22 to August 9
To celebrate the 17th French May Arts Festival, Louis Vuitton, together with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department presents “Louis Vuitton: A Passion for Creation“. Organized by the Hong Kong Museum of Art, this exhibit showcases luxury brand Louis Vuitton’s long love affair with art and its collaboration with different artists for inspiration.
Large pieces from European, American and Chinese artists will take center stage while seven vibrant new local artists and their works will also be unveiled at the exhibition to show off the city’s creative talents. They are Nadim Abbas, Lee Kit, Leung Chi-Wo, Pak Sheung-chuen, Tsang Kin-wah, Adrian Wong and Doris Wai-yin Wong.

Art HK at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Art HK 09 kicks off tonight with a preview for the VIPs and those lucky enough to get Vernisage tickets. The fair officially starts tomorrow and will carry on till May 17, 2009.
This is a must-go for art lovers! ART HK 09 is bringing over 110 of the world’s most celebrated international galleries from 24 countries to showcase their works of art. This year, they’re adding some new elements to make your art appreciation expedition more interesting. Visitors can join daily talks by artists and collectors organized by Asia Art Archive. Check out a new section to the fair that is put together by the South China Morning Post. Called Art Futures, this is a new section dedicated to solo and two-artist presentations from young galleries that are promoting emerging artists.
Gucci launches limited edition T-shirt in support of “Home”.
Powerhouse brand Gucci has recently announced its support for the enviromental film “Home”. Directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, produced by Luc Besson and funded by PPR Group, Home tackles present environmental issues presented through different aerial and scenic shots from over fifty countries worldwide.
Gucci’s Creative Director, Frida Giannini designed a limited edition T-shirt, which will only be sold in selected Gucci stores. Made from 100% organic cotton, this T-shirt has Home and Gucci logos all over it. It will be sold with a cute white canvas tote featuring the same logos. All proceeds of the sale will go to Goodplanet.org.
One of world’s most famous fashion icon hits the Silver Screen.
Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, one of the world’s most controversial and famous fashion icon has a biographical movie based on her life which will open in the States sometime at the end of the year. Called Coco Avant Chanel, this movie has already opened in France. Audrey Tautou is the lead playing Gabrielle Coco Chanel. “Coco Avant Chanel” will chronicle the French designer’s humble early years as she revolutionized the fashion world in her day and age.
This rendition of her life is based on the novel “Chanel and Her World” by Edmonde Charles-Roux and will stick to the story of her childhood, the beginning’s of Chanel, and end with scenes of her very first runway show. The movie’s costume designer, Catherine Leterrier teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld to show audiences how truly unique Coco’s style was in comparison to other ladies of her time.
We expect Hong Kong’s fashionistas will be rushing off to see this movie when it comes out on June 11th in Hong Kong.
