Best dresses at the CFDA.

The CFDA Fashion Awards are the Oscars of the fashion world. The annual ceremony held earlier this June is one of the hottest tickets for fashionistas. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) dishes out awards for “Designer of the Year” in different categories ranging from womenswear, menswear and accessories. The prize to watch however is the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award; this year’s winner for womenswear is Jason Wu. Richard Chai won the menswear prize and Alexander Wang won the award for accessories. These are the guys to watch!

Louis Vuitton’s second collaboration with Takashi Murakami.

Good news for those who adored Takashi Murakami‘s first collaboration with Louis Vuitton. The Japanese designer is back for a second installment with the leather goods brand to produce the Cosmic Blossom Collection featuring Murakami’s recognizable artwork of flowers and doodles in fun and vibrant rose, bleu and violet. For this collection, Louis Vuitton also developed a silkscreen-printed vinyl canvas, perfect for the beach.

Marc reintroduces whimsy and wonder to winter dressing.

If we were to base it on his past collections, Marc Jacobs has never been one to pay attention to the trying times of the economy. Now, more than ever, we see glimpses of his escapist nature in his latest Resort collection, as he seems to want to fly away to the world of fairytales and gamely takes us along.
Everything in the collection bears a nod to a happy ending, from the light and jewel tones of salmon, cobalt blue, gold, green and the occasional maroon, to the ruffles which are exhuberant in almost every piece from your basic shrunken cardigan to pinstriped slacks and voluminous dresses. The ‘Brave Soldier’ and ‘Prince Charming’ personas could be seen in the military-inspired jackets and, if you were somehow doubting this world of fantasy up until now, the models’ clown-like maquillage was more than enough to give us a clue.
