Marc Jacobs Resort 2010

Marc reintroduces whimsy and wonder to winter dressing.

If we were to base it on his past collections, Marc Jacobs has never been one to pay attention to the trying times of the economy. Now, more than ever, we see glimpses of his escapist nature in his latest Resort collection, as he seems to want to fly away to the world of fairytales and gamely takes us along.

Everything in the collection bears a nod to a happy ending, from the light and jewel tones of salmon, cobalt blue, gold, green and the occasional maroon, to the ruffles which are exhuberant in almost every piece from your basic shrunken cardigan to pinstriped slacks and voluminous dresses. The ‘Brave Soldier’ and ‘Prince Charming’ personas could be seen in the military-inspired jackets and, if you were somehow doubting this world of fantasy up until now, the models’ clown-like maquillage was more than enough to give us a clue.

Marc Jacobs Launches Lola

Tuesday. 17 November. 2009. 9:33 am

Marc Jacob’s new fragrance.

Marc-Jacobs_Lola

Following the success of Daisy, Marc Jacob has launched his latest parfum, Lola at Lane Crawford, Hong Kong. Considered the older, more sensual sister to Daisy, Lola has a warm flowery scent, perfect for wrapping up to at Christmas with that glass of wine. Its signature note is fushia peony, with simple notes of pink peppercorn, pear d’anjou, rose, geranium and a wintery warm base of vanilla and creamy musk. The Eau de Parfum comes in a bold purple glass bottle with a huge bright vinyl flower cap that is completely over the top but certainly makes it stand out on the shelf!

The eye-catching bottle and sexy name make it the perfect gift for that friend of yours who, like us, is simply crazy about Marc Jacobs and make sure to catch the ad, which features the model Karlie Kloss and is shot by one of Marc’s favourite photographers, Juergen Teller. Truly an art in itself.

Lola is exclusively available at Lane Crawford until 23 November. Spend more than HK$1,200 on this range and you can get a cute leather case from this collection.
