The reconfigured Prada Transformer in Seoul, Korea, is set to unveil a new cinema stage come June 27, 2009. To celebrate this historic occasion, audiences can catch “Flesh,Mind and Spirit”, a special cinema program brought about by the collaboration of multi-nominated Oscar director Alejandro González Iñárritu and famed cinema-critic Elvis Mitchell.

The collaboration brings about 14 outstanding cinematic masterpieces made by various influential and uncompromising filmmakers. Aimed to move the flesh, mind and spirit, expect to see movies that are truly outstanding, and have served as personal inspiration to Alejandro González Iñárritu. It will be the first time many of these movies will be shown in Korea.

While other designers were channeling fun party nights for fall, Miuccia Prada headed to the other direction. Her fall 2009 ready-to-wear collection clearly had  a serious and stolid vibe. Suits were no-nonsense in dark wools, and they were paired with almost utilitarian-looking footwear that included chunky socks, and dark leather boots.

Cuts were made to look severe and deliberate, from the bulky shoulders of some of the looks, to the low necklines of the others. The collection’s colors were also straightforward- plain reds, greys, browns and blacks. It was only near the end of the collection that Prada showed some frills in the form of dresses in hard metallic colors.

You’ve no doubt by now seen Prada‘s new ad campaign all over Hong Kong. Prada has hired Los Angeles-based Asian-American artist James Jean to illustrate their new prints that can be seen on handbags and dresses. What is interesting is that, not only has comic book characters have taken over the movies they are now taking over high fashion, as Jean is a notable comic book artist and his work has graced several graphic novels and comic books over the last few years. They evoke a dream-like quality and he is one of the most sought after artists with his original art going for high 6-figures on Ebay.
